Summary: STL Partners is seeking to recruit a Marketing Communications and Communities Manager as a key part of our plan to help take the business to the next stage of growth. Responsibilities will include producing marketing and customer communications (e.g. newsletters, websites, brochures), digital marketing (e.g. SEO, social media, and email marketing), and the management of our database. A key measure of success will be to achieve a significant increase in inbound sales leads within the next year as a result of this appointment. This is a full time role and will be based in Shoreditch / Liverpool Street, London.. (February 2013).

Job Description


  • Job Title: Marketing Communications and Communities Manager
  • Reports to / reviewed by – who has 1-1s with, who does annual appraisal: COO / Research Director

Responsibilities

  • Manage the production and delivery of marketing and sales websites and brochures for business overall, and for events, research, consulting and marketing services lines of business
  • Manage and produce regular ‘Telco 2.0’ and other email newsletters (e.g. Vodafone specific email)
  • Create a visible schedule of research publications and track their delivery to target
  • Develop and manage communications with key topic communities via social media such asTwitter, Linked-In, Google +, and Facebook
  • Manage the processes of data collection and database updates so that best, freshest data always available

Skills – what does the person need to be good at (NB Total 5+ years experience in marketing)

  • Excellent written and spoken English, and good awareness / skills in visual presentation of information
  • Well organised and methodical with strong project and time management skills
  • 2+ years experience of direct and online communications management, including social media
  • 2+ years experience of the management of customer data and CRM databases
  • Highly analytical. Experience of online publishing and some knowledge of SEO is highly desirable

An illustrative week in the life of the Marketing Communications and Communities Manager

  • Talk to research team and update research publications plan (0.5 days)
  • Create and edit copy and designs for websites, brochures and emails etc. (0.5 days)
  • Create and publish weekly newsletter using new and existing research plus event news (1 day)
  • Manage publication of new research materials Manage creation, testing, audience selection and publishing of email newsletter Manage communications with Twitter, Facebook, Linked-In communities (0.5 days)
  • Review and manage planned email and marketing campaigns across sales and business units (0.5 days)
  • Manage data acquisition, cleaning and selection activities for major campaigns (1 day)
  • Oversee and improve SEO activities across all sites (0.5 days)
  • Work with management team on analysis, strategy and plans (0.5 days)

Package details – Marketing Communications and Communities Manager

  • Location Scrutton Street, just off Curtain Road, in Shoreditch.
  • The job is primarily office based.

Package and terms

  • C£40-45k basic depending on experience / qualifications +10% Bonus potential
  • Full-time / 5 days a week 5 weeks holiday 3 months probation period

The ideal candidate is likely to:

  • Be in an agency, or a professional services, product or services brand marketing company
  • Have moved between direct (i.e. email / database) and online (i.e. SEO, websites) roles with a good record in both
  • Have 5 years or more total marketing experience
  • Be looking for a role with greater autonomy and accountability
